Dear Applicant,

Thank you for your interest in the role of Deputy Executive Director, Individual Giving for Unicef UK.

Unicef UK’s vision is a world fit for children. We have an ambitious mission and an exceptional team. Our purpose is to champion children’s rights, to win support and raise money for Unicef’s work with children everywhere. Yet right now, too many children are in danger – facing violence, disease, hunger and the chaos of war and disaster. We believe this is wrong and must change. We won’t stop until every child is safe. This is at the heart of who we are.

In recent years, Unicef UK has seen a significant increase in income from individuals for children. We have achieved award-winning, innovative new ways to champion children’s rights both globally and through our UK programmes, and at the same time we have increased the impact of our brand, fundraising and communications for children. In the next five years, we have ambitions to do much more, and have therefore been undergoing considerable change in order to continue to develop our revenue, influence and culture.

To be successful, you will have the skills, sensitivity, emotional intelligence and personal confidence to tap into the potential that each member of staff brings. While it is essential that you bring substantial mass marketing and excellent public engagement experience, it is also critical that you bring a deep commitment to children’s rights and international development, together with the ambition to make a difference. We believe that the talent, motivation and commitment of our staff are the key to our success. We are committed to wellbeing and engagement, supporting and delivering outstanding performance and communicating effectively. We want to be radical in the way we work as an organisation, as well as in what we do to achieve our goals for children.

If you feel that you share our values and can demonstrate the experience we are looking for, I look forward to hearing from you.

Mike Penrose

Executive Director - Unicef UK
